TESTIMONIALS

“Jason Crigler is an infinitely curious and equally capable musician, composer, and collaborator. I have had the pleasure of working with Jason on both creative and commercial projects and am always blown away with the amount of time and thoughtfulness that he invests in pieces. His work has not only complimented, but also elevated my own work and approach. He is infectiously positive and a joy to work with and be around. “ - Jeff Grantz, Design Communication Ltd (DCL)

“Jason is one of the most talented, unique, smart and capable composers Sherpa Productions works with. He is full of ideas and execution of those ideas in a way that is astonishingly diverse and beautiful. Jason has led an incredibly interesting life and his own story, I am convinced, is the bottomless well from which his inspiration flows. I am not only happy to call him a colleague but also a friend. And I could not recommend him more highly or with more pride. “ - Rick Kaplan, Sherpa Productions

“Jason did some great work that was a perfect fit for what we needed. Aside from being highly creative he takes a lot of time to listen to what is needed before interpreting it in an imaginative way. His options were so good it was a tough decision as to which one to go with.” - Mike Slone,  The Fullbridge Program

“Jason is the best, an incredible musician who works fast and professionally - but with soul and heart. He's made music for advertising/corporate that is way better than anything found online, and he can work towards budgets while still creating something that sounds high-end and expensive. He's a joy to work with, and is especially adept and translating client and non-musician words and feedback into musical language.” - Samir Patel, Frog Design

“Jason is a passionate and talented composer. We've worked together on several commercial projects and he always brings a fresh take on the subject at hand. Jason takes notes extremely well and is always ready to modify or adapt work in order to help the overall creative. It's always a pleasure to get to work on a project with Jason.”  - Miky Wolf, Big Sky Editorial

ABOUT

“I think my fascination with accompaniment comes from my childhood. My father was a musical director and I spent many years watching the shows he conducted. The music of George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Richard Rogers, George M Cohan, and many others wove together to create the soundtrack of my childhood summers. For me, my dad was the ultimate accompanist, and he had an entire orchestra to use as his pallet to enhance the story being told on stage.

My own experience with accompaniment would come years later as a guitarist in New York City. From 1996 to 2004, I accompanied many singer-songwriters (including Marshall Crenshaw, John Cale, Linda Thompson and Erin Mckeown) and became engrossed in the many ways I could keep reinventing that supportive role. I learned to go inside each song and look for ways to not only support, but also to elevate each song and each songwriter’s vision. Later I enjoyed opportunities to perform with Norah Jones, Levon Helm, Suzanne Vega, Garth Hudson and Rufus Wainwright.

Creating music and sound design for visual images feels like a natural extension of this accompaniment role. I have a large library of music that is available for license. I also love working with clients to create something unique that fits the needs of a project. I enjoy digging deep to find the right sounds, the right notes, and the right textures to help tell a story. My goal is always to elevate a director's vision, and I don’t consider a project finished until the combination of sound and image moves me in an emotional way.

When the right blend of music, sound, and image happens, it’s magical.”

- Jason Crigler, Music for the Moving Image
